Macintyre Young Writers Open Writing Competition Launch Friday evening was highlighted by Lisa Gardollโs โAccidental Authorโ Guest Speaker spot. Lisaโs authorship and self-publishing journey was well planned and succinct. The audience of 40 plus supporters were, from the start, entertained, informed, humoured, and questioned in one of the most sensitive and emotive presentations experienced in some time. Lisa was acutely aware of her audience both in her book compilation and her presentation. As Lisa explained, โitโs a dry topic.โ It needed to be brought alive. What followed were the three phases termed by Lisa as Curiosity and Words, Enhancement and Production.
Saturday morningโs workshop was just as professionally executed and so valuable to those wanting to start their own documentation of family history. Lisaโs focus on the digital enhancement of photographs, more efficient management of research of websites including the National Archives, War Memorial and TROVE opened up a whole new world. Two hours zipped past. We have had a taste of โIf not you, then who? If not now, then when?โ
