Another successful Opera in the Gardens on Saturday 14th October at the beautiful Goondiwindi Botanic Gardens! This time featuring not only the fantastic Louise Dorsman and her talented troupe, but also the accomplished string quartet “Angel Strings”. And excellently supported by our outstanding local singers led by Benita Knowss. With the support of Goondiwindi State High School and RADF, the performers gave free voice and strings workshops on Friday to students from four local schools. Those students then had the opportunity to perform on Saturday night at the Opera! Kaloma residents were also invited to the rehearsal. Thanks to the FRRR, Ningana Trust, Vern Kleinschmidt Community Fund, generous local business sponsors and patrons, auction bidders, and many hardworking volunteers. This event not only was a great deal of fun, but also supported many local organisations and businesses, and will result in a significant donation to the GI Cancer Institute, in memory of local legend, Esme Cairns.
