Goondiwindi P & A Show Society
Goondiwindi P & A Show Society is made up of a membership base of 280 voting members and 80 junior members, these members form the General Committee and are the volunteers and citizens who present the annual Goondiwindi Pastoral & Agricultural Show. From these members 11 are elected to form the Executive Committee for the Goondiwindi P & A Show Society
These proud, passionate and diverse people all bring different experiences, skills and knowledge to the Society, taking the role of being custodians of the Goondiwindi Show Grounds very seriously, ensuring that future generations in the Goondiwindi & District area are able to enjoy, learn and experience all that the Agriculture, Horticulture and Pastoral sectors have to offer.
The Goondiwindi Pastoral & Agricultural Society was founded to run the Annual Agricultural Show. Over time members of the organisation donated land to the show society to become one of the few show grounds which is a privately owned and run facility. The inaugural Show was conducted in 1877 by the Macintyre Pastoral Agricultural and Horticultural Society.
The activity at the showgrounds has continued to grow and are called 'home' by many other user groups; Goondiwindi Pony Club, Goondiwindi District Campdraft Association, Cotton Country Cutting Club, Goondiwindi Polocrosse, Gundy Mens Shed, Days for Girls and the Rotary Girls. These groups running regular events and practise days at the showgrounds.
The committee are focusing on infastructure improvements to attract other events to the community and grounds.
