As Peter Pan said, ‘To live will be an awfully big adventure’ and what an adventure the St Mary’s students have lived over the past eight months.
After over 60 hours of rehearsals, hot glue gun burns, needle pricks, too many empty cans of spray paint and hair spray to count, make-up and costume design ideas, sleepless nights, hundreds of emails, a few tears but thousands of smiles… the students took to the stage at the gorgeous Goondiwindi Cinema and Theatre and blew us away.
“An experience the cast will never forget!”
“Truly amazing… I forgot I was watching school kids”
“It has inspired my child to audition in a musical”
“A credit to all the staff and students involved… such a wonderful performance!”
The response and support through sponsorship was amazing. The school also applied and was successful in obtaining a grant through the Queensland Government’s, Regional Art Development Fund. Sponsors were invited to Opening Night celebrations of drinks and nibbles.
St Mary’s Music, Drama and Dance teacher, Mrs Benita Klowss guided a team of staff and parent helpers through their first musical experience. Although there were some exhausted bodies at Sunday pack up, everyone would show up all over again.
For everyone involved, it is a little sad it’s all over, however, “It is a memory that will remain in the hearts of many people forever!”
