All the best escapes to nature start with a gathering of supplies from the Inglewood central shopping district โwith a butcher, bakery and two grocery stores, Inglewood has everything you will need for your adventures.
Head east from the Inglewood township to Green Up Meeting Place and set up your camp for the night on the banks of the Bracker Creek. The campsites are the perfect place to light a campfire, throw in a fishing line or launch your kayaks to explore the water and its wildlife.
After a BBQ breakfast grab the gang together for a day at Coolmunda Dam. Coolmunda Dam is a mecca for visitors for all things watersport โ skiiling, sailing, canoeing, fishing…and of course, sunbaking! The Dam and its surrounds are also home to a wide variety of bird and wildlife, so keep an eye out for them on your adventures.
After an exciting day on the water, head south on the Texas Road to your campsite for the night โ Goat Rock. Here you get an opportunity to immerse yourself in the bush with bushwalking, birdwatching, star gazing and searching for native flora and fauna โ keep an eye out for the Balancing Rock in your travels!
Today is all about adventure! Make your way towards Yelarbon from Texas and then towards Goondiwindi via the Yelarbon-Keetah Road, and then Kildonan Road.
Bengalla Reserve is a large open-grassed area with river access. This is a great stop for a picnic morning tea with plenty of space for the kids to kick a ball while Mum and Dad try their hand at a spot of fishing or birdwatching.
Lees Reserve gives access to a picturesque part of the Macintyre River that features a rock bar that forms a perfect fishing and swimming spot. This spot is a great place to wash off the dust and enjoy a picnic lunch under the gum trees.
Yellowbank and Rainbow Reserves are two other reserves on the Kildonan Road that are worth exploring. They both are great swimming holes, while Rainbow Reserve also has a dirt boat ramp that would suit most tinnies. After a full day of exploring the reserves, set up camp for the night. Enjoy your camp dinner under the stars as you take in your surroundings in all its natural glory.
Rise with the birds and head into Goondiwindi to grab a brekkie at one of the many cafes in town.
Head on out to the Goondiwindi Botanic Gardens and explore the walking trails while learning about our native flora and fauna.
Picnic lunch at the Goondiwindi Natural Heritage and Water Park is always a good idea! After lunch, why not relax in the shade while the kids have a paddle in the swimming/beach area, or take a hike on one of the many walking trails?
