Exhibition opening – Carol Barnwell and Terese Eglington present Natural Harmony
September 1, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pmFree
Exhibition – 01 September – 21 October – opening night 01 September 5.30pm – 7.30pm
Carol studied A Level Art at school, and attended the Peter Birch School of Art, before going on to study Veterinary Science. After enjoying a successful career as a veterinarian, Carol is now pursuing her lifelong interest in art full time. She is an active member of the Back Roads Artist Group.
Carol has always been fascinated by the way close contact with the natural world has such a direct impact on improving our mindset. The way a beautiful landscape or time spent with animals can make us feel much better about themselves.
Her art invites the viewer to focus on the very essence of an animal, bird, or place. To actually ‘be in the moment’ and hear the ‘heart-beat’. Carol loves bringing the ‘soul’ of the living, breathing, natural world into our cities, offices, and homes, so that we can enjoy the benefit of being in harmony with nature every day of our lives.
Her landscapes are less about the scenery and more about ‘the empty spaces’ the scenery contains. Her paintings provide room for our minds to wonder as we leave our troubles behind.

Creating art is one of Terese’s many passions and whenever possible, she spends hours at her easel putting her impressions and ideas on canvas or paper to share with others. Terese has always enjoyed working with her hands and trying anything crafty. In her high school years, she studied ceramics and completed two brief years of art. As a young mum, she dabbled in oil painting and wood carving, being inspired by the masters and craftsmen.
Renovating several homes gave Terese the opportunity to attempt furniture restoration, leadlight and the occasional wall mural. More recently, she has written, illustrated and published seven children’s picture books.
While scrounging through an op shop, in search of pre-loved treasures, she discovered a painting by a renowned Australian artist. That was her key inspiration to start painting again. The beauty of art is you can always improve, learn new skills and grow in both ability and confidence. Attending workshops is a great way to develop techniques, exchange ideas and meet others with a similar passion.
Terese’s books are available at Cobb & Co Museum and Murray’s Art & Framing, Toowoomba. You can contact her via Facebook, email or her website tereseeglington.com
