Macintyre Ag Alliance is partnering with Southern Queensland Landscapes to host a field day at “Bonyi,” Goondiwindi next Friday 16 July, 2021.
The field day will take a sustainability and innovation focus and feature presentations from industry representatives sharing their experiences in an immersive, thought-provoking discussion session.
Nuffield Scholar Stuart Tait, Mandurama, NSW, will detail his work with livestock forage systems, dual-purpose cropping, year-round grazing systems and increasing profits to stay ahead of rural land values.
Peter Thompson, Echo Hills Farming, Roma, QLD, has seen the impacts of sustainable land management in his business and will share how he and his wife, Nikki, take a unified approach to livestock and cropping, and have added other innovative practices and technologies to their progressive business model.
Host, Dr Viv Perry, Bonyi Grazing, will speak about her experience in implementing grazing management practices, improving pasture quality and yield, and regenerating endangered ecosystems.
Macintyre Ag Alliance president John Cranney said the Bonyi field day would be a great starting point for understanding how sustainable practices may be applicable in other operations.
“Sustainable farming can be a confronting or confusing term but the aim of the field day is to reiterate that becoming more sustainable is easily within reach for farmers and graziers,” he said.
“You may find you’re unknowingly operating in a sustainable way and attending the field day at Bonyi will help to reassure you you’re on the right track- there’s always more to be learned.”
Speaker presentations will begin at 2pm at the Bonyi homestead, with an interactive Q&A panel session following at 4pm and featuring innovative local producers Tom Archer, Richard and Janet Doyle and Todd Cranney. Refreshments and BBQ provided.
Tickets are $35 for members of Macintyre Ag Alliance, and $50 for non-members. Macintyre Ag Alliance urges those interested to register their attendance as soon as possible, as places generally fill quickly. Head to Eventbrite to book: www.eventbrite.com.au/e/bonyi-field-day-tickets-161562272105
