Supermarket reopens 18th July revitalised and fresh with a focus on valueโฆ
It is good news for Goondiwindi and surrounding areas with the reopening of Foodworks on Wednesday 15thJuly. New owners Kate and Peter Beard have moved to town from Hervey Bay with son Sidney and plan on delivering a community supermarket that will have a strong offer in fresh Meat, Deli and Fruit and Veg.
The family are experienced in retailing with a history of country stores and other regional based business. โOur customers can expect a revitalised fresh focus on good food with a strong value proposition in groceries and general merchandiseโ Peter said.
Since moving to town there has been a lot of interest in store renovations, โFeedback from locals has been reassuring, itโs a big change for us but we feel welcome in the community alreadyโ commented Kate as she waded through a plethora of employment applications.
The store has already built a start-up team who have been busy fitting out the store and filling stock items of over 12,000 stock keep units (SKUs). This is great news for the area โWe want to keep the local economy strong by supporting employment and community engagementโ Peter said.
Itโs a big statement of faith in the region with the recent purchase of the old coop building and a massive investment in refitting and reopening the supermarket but both Kate and Peter are believers in keeping country towns strong โ โItโs the backbone of our nationโ Kate said, โweโre really looking forward to making the supermarket the place to shop in the areaโ she added.
โWe would like to thank our investment partners, the Foodworks group and an army of suppliers who have all pitched in to make this happen in a short period of time and this is just the beginningโ Peter mentioned whilst unloading the first of many pallets of groceries to be delivered to the store. โLocals can expect a wider range and an improved shopping experienceโ Peter said.
The store will be officially opened with a ribbon cutting on Saturday 18th July at 12.00pm which will be officiated by Mayor The Honourable Councillor Lawrence Springborg, AM
