The Goondiwindi Creative Getaway, under the auspices of The Goondiwindi Botanic Gardens, is a weekend filled with 3 to 4 hour mini creative workshops. The aim of the weekend is provide taste tester workshops where participants can try a new creative venture, and complete the project on the day. It fits the concept of mental health whereby an item is created and completed. People enjoy each others company and take home item(s) to enjoy.
The 2022 Getaway weekend was sponsored by FRRR (Foundation of Rural and Regional Renewal), Qld Government & Goondiwindi Regional Council RADF (Regional Arts Development Fund), Vern Kleinschmidt Foundation, RDO Equipment Goondiwindi, Smithfield Cattle Co Goondiwindi, and James Lister MP Southern Downs. Without this help the weekend would not succeed. Men, women, and children attendees ranged in age from 11 to 90 and completed over 250 individual workshops.
