The Goondiwindi Emus Rugby Union Club hosted their annual Ladies Day this past weekend, and the event was a spectacular success. The day was filled with exciting Rugby matches, all in aid of raising funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
The event drew an impressive crowd, all eager to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and support a good cause. The gate takings came in at over $12,000, which is an incredible achievement for the club and the community.
Major Lucky Door Prizes, which were donated by local businesses, added to the excitement of the day for spectators. Jess Strauch was awarded the covetable โBest Dressed Ladyโ prize, with Annie Smart earning runner-up. Meanwhile, Amy Schulte received the โBest Supporterโ prize.
The Goondiwindi Emus Rugby Union Club competed in a range of matches throughout the day, from Juniors and Womens 7s, to Golden Oldies and 3 thrilling games of Senior Mens Rugby. Despite a valiant effort in the main match, The A Grade Emus were defeated by just one point.
Nevertheless, the Rugby was highly entertaining and the day was a huge success, thanks to the support of the players, volunteers, sponsors and, of course, the spectators. The Ladies Day was another testament to the strength and community spirit of the Goondiwindi Emus Rugby Union Club.
