Over 85 people attended our garden club’s latest day on Sunday. Our visit included 3 gardens in various stages of development, and the day was principally aimed at encouraging new gardeners to enjoy the garden with their families. We feel that we achieved this aim, as it was wonderful to see a number of younger families enjoying the morning, learning from our wonderful guest speaker Tina Raines, and celebrating all things “gardening.” Tina Raines is a locally based landscape designer, and has had an input into all 3 gardens. Tina discussed the preparation of the soil as essential before thinking about the plants, and the aspects for different plants etc. It was a very informative address!
Sarah and Tim Gleeson’s garden was only planted in June and is really starting to blossom. Boo and Robyn McGregor’s Garden is 18 months old, and is well on the way to be a beautiful garden with a lovely lawn, lillypillies, dieters, leopard trees and features lots of group plantings. Dave and Kate Kelly’s garden was a short walk along. All the gardens there were prepared with trickle systems, just waiting for the RAIN!
The garden club is very grateful for the opportunity to visit these gardens in the infancy stage. A return visit in 5 or 6 years will show how the gardens have evolved, as they certainly will!
Thank you to everyone for coming to enjoy the morning.
The last Garden club morning for 2019 is on Sunday 27th October at Tony and Jill Tonkin’s Garden, 12 Yapunyah Crescent, with morning tea and the AGM, followed by a walk through the neighbours gardens of Julie and Jeff Jamieson and Julie Corns. It will be a lovely way to close the garden club year!
