On Sunday 10th March,2023 the Goondiwindi Garden Club held an event at ian and Lousieโs MacCue โs garden in Oakhole Road , Goondiwindi. This event was supported by a Drought and Resilience event grant given to us by Goondiwindi Regional Council. Although it was a warm day 85 people enjoyed listening to the 4 guest speakers.
Kylie Rutledge from Cheepie and Gale McKelvie from Moonie spoke of their journey of developing their gardens under droughts and flooding rain. Two very different challenges such as soil types, water supply, access to mulch and so on while still actively involved in property life.
The afternoon session was about the best watering options. Mike Wells from Toowoomba talked about his approach to watering . He related to the cost of water, when should we water and how much water. Andrew Williams from Goondiwindi showed us a variety of sprinklers he recommends and the best way to use them in your garden. He was very interesting and has offered to speak and demonstrate different sprinklers and drippers ,etc at our next garden day on May 26th at the Billsborough garden in Rivergums Drive.
