The Goondiwindi Housing Solutions Forum was well-received and attended last night. After watching a video from the Goondiwindi Regional Council that outlined the current housing situation, our panel – Toni Sharpe, Damian Bell, Gary Bartlam, Lucy Walker and Mayor Lawrence Springborg – shared their first-hand experiences as employers and community members and discussed some possible solutions. Thank you to all of our panellists for joining this important discussion (up on the cinema stage!).
The Q & A session gave the audience a chance to ask questions of the panel or add a comment. Some interesting perspectives and ideas were shared throughout the evening including possible solutions to the housing shortage by encouraging building granny flats, extending social housing, investment from businesses, creating syndicates, to name but a few.
It’s a big topic and this is just the start of the conversation. The hope of the Chamber and GRC is that this is a step towards our community finding solutions to this ongoing issue.
