The Watering Hole” Mural was painted on the Thallon GrainCorp Silos in July 2017, by Artists Joel Fergie (The Zookeeper) and Travis Vinson (Drapl). It depicts icons of the Thallon district using a compilation of images by local photographers. These include The Moonie River, Pale Faced Rosellas, the district’s agricultural heritage, and a scarred tree recognizing Thallon’s Indigenous Community, all set against the backdrop of a stunning Western Queensland Sunset. Parking, a viewing platform and interpretative sign are located adjacent to the silos just off Thallon’s Campground, which includes showers and toilets. Camping is free unless you require power, which is $5.50 per night.
A range of Silos Merchandise is available at Thallon’s Francis Hotel along with airconditioned budget accommodation, great meals 7 days, barista coffee and of course cold beer. So why not spend a couple of days and take the time to discover the other artworks painted by the Silo Artists dotted around the community and meet William the Wombat and the other friendly locals in Thallon.
