Start your day right with a kick-starter coffee and breakfast at one of Goondiwindiโs many cafes and eateries. There are plenty to choose from, and they are all equally delicious!
Letโs hit the frog and toad! Jump in the car and head west on the Barwon Highway. First stop is Callandoon Pioneer Cemetery, just 19kms from Goondiwindi. Callandoon these days is a working cotton farm, but during the 1840s to 1860s it was a well-established holding with a post office, police barracks and gaol. There are reports that there are many people buried at the cemetery, but there are only six known graves and two remaining head stones dating from 1876.
Pop into the Toobeah Hotel Motel and pick up something for morning tea, a popular one-stop shop for locals and tourists alike.
Take a wander around the Talwood Recreation Grounds and soak in the country atmosphere. While you are here, check out the original Talwood Railway Station and lock up building. We recommended stopping at the Talwood Store or Pub for lunch before you continue on your westbound journey.
Take a short detour into yesteryear by popping into the small community of Daymar where you will find the most perfect example of a quaint โbush churchโ at the Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church. Also check out Daymarโs Timber Town Hall.
Head on into Thallon where you are sure not to miss the Thallon GrainCorp Silos and William the Wombat. Continue up the road to Nindigully Pub where you can treat yourself to a world famous Road Train Burger, then camp along the banks of the Moonie River.
As a small region, some tourism locations require bookings. Please always check before arriving.
