Hello Jane is an emerging singer/songwriter based in Brisbane. Her love of the countryside and small town community has spurred on a new live performance series titled ‘A Songwriter’s Summer’. In hopes to connect with audiences and fellow songwriters outside of the her own city, the live performance series will be free events for anyone to attend, with most being all ages. Every show will have a local and emerging songwriter performing as an opening act, followed by Hello Jane and her trio (consisting of Erin Ellis, a Goondiwindi-based guitarist and Mia Amrisyanda, Indonesian-born vocalist).
Hello Jane is no stranger to performing having travelled across Queensland to festivals including Tablelands Folk Festival, Gympie Muster Music Festival and Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. She has also recently performed at some of Brisbane’s most iconic venues including The Old Museum, Black Bear Lodge and Studio 188 Ipswich. Her live performance is captivating, rich with feeling, and portrays the flawless pairing of effortless vocal and honed songwriting finesse. It is a performance for all who love classic songwriting, folk storytelling, pop melody and a little hint of country. MORE INFORMATION ABOUT HELLO JANE:
How did my music career come about?
“About five years ago I made an impulsive decision to leave my full time job and started studying music. Two years into my degree, one of my teachers suggested I move to the songwriting specialisation which my immediate response was “but I’m not a songwriter”; fast forward a year on and I’m writing, recording and performing my original songs across Queensland.”
My music is best described as?
Hello Jane sounds like Paul Kelly and Carole King had a baby that grew up listening to Missy Higgins; a classic blend of folk storytelling with pop melody. Songs about lost love, growing up and most things in between.
Musical Interests?
“I started to think seriously about a career in music when I first heard Eva Cassidy sing. Listening to her made me realise how powerful music can be.”
ABOUT ‘A Songwriter’s Summer Series’
“‘A Songwriter’s Summer’ series is the first tour of it’s kind for my music. It’s been a dream of mine to take my music to smaller and more regional parts of Australia as I feel they have a certain kind of love for live music that big cities don’t always hold.”
Music releases?
My first debut single was released in Feb 2020 and was titled ‘Everything Alright’, below is a media comment on the song: ‘Simplicity can mean sparse, but in the case of Hello Jane’s debut single, ‘Everything’s Alright’, it means clarity and elegance, of meaning and execution. Hello Jane has married the meaning of the lyrics with the way they’re delivered – when she sings ‘Everything will be just fine’, you believe her, and you also know that the act of listening to the song will actually help achieve that. Music is medicine, amongst other things, and this song is a tonic.’ – Jolene Country Music Blog
