The Organisation

Carpendale Agri is a broad acre grain farm which has grown to include grain storage complex with the ability to receive, store and export grain as well as a transport business.

Laguna Bay Group manages the evaluation, acquisition, development and management of agricultural assets, including Carpendale Agri, on behalf of institutional investors.

The Position

This is a combined HR and health and safety role. The HR & HSE Generalist role will report into the Executive Manager on farm at Goondiwindi with a dotted line to the HR & HSE Manager at Laguna Bay in Brisbane.

HR Key Tasks

  • Support management in creating a harmonious, productive and fair work environment.
  • Manage end to end recruitment process.
  • Create and manage competency framework.
  • Interpret and assess Award obligations.
  • Manage seasonal workforce including accommodation.
  • Conduct company induction and onboarding process.
  • Provide advice to management (and documentation) in all employee relations matters in line with policies/procedures including:
  1. Performance & conduct
  2. Respectful workplace (discrimination, bullying, harassment)
  3. Grievance/disputes
  4. Workplace investigations
  5. Absence
  6. Termination/Redundancy
  7. Return to work

Heath Safety & Environment (HSE) Key Tasks

  • Support the management team in creating and maintaining a safety-first work culture.
  • Work with external health and safety Consultants to identify and implement HSE improvements.
  • Set up new employees and remove leavers in HSE system GreenRoom.
  • Ensure all new workers complete HSE training in GreenRoom.
  • Ensure visitors complete HSE induction/paperwork.
  • Ensure workers have relevant HSE ‘tickets’ and other competencies to perform their work and arrange for training where they do not have them.
  • Enter and/or add further details to incident, near miss and hazard reports in GreenRoom with sufficient information.
  • Arrange regular HSE meetings.
  • Complete HSE tasks assigned to HR & HSE Generalist.
  • Help manage plant, equipment and infrastructure actions (result of audit or other) which may include getting quotes, approvals, internal/external workers to complete).
  • Manage contractor induction process in GreenRoom (collecting and uploading documents, completion of induction chasing up contractors).

The person

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree (or relevant experience) in Human Resource Management
  • Qualifications in health and safety highly regarded
  • 3 years in a similar level preferred
