Goondiwindi Men of League Committee welcomed 147 players including special guest, NRL Players Ben Ikin, Ben Walker and Alan Langer and State Manager of Men of League Andrew Blucher. Jasmine Finlay aka Golfer Girl also visited her father’s old home town to support the day. Jasmine is a professional golfer and talent agent who specialises in helping community groups raise funds through golf. We were also fortunate to have current Broncos half-back Tom Dearden play. Tom’s grandfather was a long-time local resident who maintains many local connections.
Since 2002 the Men of League Foundation has been the port of last call for those within our sporting family facing tough times with inadequate resources. Volunteers regularly visit members of the rugby league community who are hospitalised, provide mobility aides or home improvements for injured members and visit to prevent social isolation.
Whilst local sponsors and players helped to raise funds to support the foundation, the greatest benefit of the day is to get people together in a spirit of fun.
