Reminder about the Military Museum at the Woods Family residence, 32 Ulawanna Road, Goondiwindi โ final viewing and what happens to all the memorabilia in the future?!!
Following the final display of the Woods Military Museum, many of the military memorabilia artifacts at the Military Museum at the Woods residence are to find a new home within the War Display at the Customs House Museum.
Karen Woods has asked the Goondiwindi & District Historical Society, that any items which were donated to her in good faith be placed in their new โforeverโ home, as an acknowledgement of the generosity of community members, and more importantly as a reminder of the families from within the district, whose loved ones served their country. The request was agreed to in principal and the group are looking into funding possibilities to make the necessary modifications to the cottage for the display.
Support from the Goondiwindi Regional Council and the Goondiwindi RSL Sub Branch for the project is greatly appreciated and hopefully between all interested parties, this will become a reality.
In the meantime, Karen wishes to remind the community that the Woods Museum will be open on the following dates over April leading up to ANZAC Day 2023, as follows:
Saturday 1st April
Saturday 8th April
Saturday 15th April
Saturday 22nd April
10am to 4pm
There is no charge to look at the museum and you may even score a cup of tea or coffee if you are lucky!
There is however, a donation tin to go towards the Goondiwindi RSL Sub Branch.
Cars to be parked outside the entrances to the property, except for those visitors who are using wheelchairs and walkers โ please feel welcome to drive in.
