Oak Tree Retirement village Goondiwindi last night launched its very own Hobby Den. The residents welcomed members of the Goondiwindi Men’s shed along with other locals. Victor Carlyon and John Jobling cut the ribbon to officially open this fantastic workshop. The residents have fitted out the Hobby Den with recycled bits and pieces. Some of them have brought many of their own treasured tools into their Oak Tree Village and thanks to the hard work and dedication of the residents in setting up the Hobby Den workshop, many projects can now be created and completed.
Oak Tree Retirement Village residents felt graced with the knowledge and presence of attendees of the local Men’s Shed. The benefits were mutual with a Men’s Shed attendee commenting “I’m moving in here now that you have a workshop … and there’s even a pool at Oak Tree!”
Oak Tree’s resident care values are evident around the Village, with many items created by residents placed in places that can be enjoyed by everyone. Examples of this raised garden beds at the front of the village centre, the village mobile chook pen which houses 3 resident chooks and even a wheelie bin trailer. Residents created this to assist the Oak Tree employed gardener/maintenance person with one of his many tasks.
The Oak Tree Hobby Den welcomes both men and women and provides great social connection during the week. The gatherings held in the village help to prevent loneliness and connects residents with like-minded community members.
Oak Tree offers a lifestyle with stress free living with all garden, lawns and general maintenance taken care of.
