Recently, a heritage train journeyed from Warwick to Goondiwindi, offering passengers stunning views of the countryside. The train also made a stop at Inglewood for lunch before heading towards Goondiwindi. On Sunday, the steam train made two tours to Toobeah, providing an exciting experience for families and those reminiscing. The train then returned to Warwick on the Monday of the Long weekend.
The historic train, called the C17 locomotive, played a vital role in rebuilding and rehabilitating the Queensland Railways after the Second World War. The locomotives were painted in a medium brown colour scheme, equipped with roller bearings and larger tenders, streamlined cabs, and side windows for weather protection. The C17 was a versatile engine and the most powerful conventional locomotive that could run on Queensland tracks. Unfortunately, the class started being withdrawn from service with the rise of diesel engines. Nonetheless, the C17 Class made an impact and lasted 50 years from 1920 to 1970.
