The students of the Texas State School are fit as a fiddle with new instruments donated from as far as Alice Springs at a presentation on Thursday 4thย March with Mayor of Goondiwindi Regional Council, Hon Lawrence Springborg and Cr. Phil OโShea.
Following on from their successful Creative Bootcamp at the Texas Memorial Hall last November, Topology made a call out on social media for instruments for the new string program in Texas.ย
โThe response was overwhelming with instruments being brought in from as far as Alice Springsโ said Christa Powell, Creative Director, Topology.
โJohn and I were extremely excited to deliver 32 instruments to Texas and have an official presentation at the school last week. It really is wonderful to see such an ongoing commitment to music and supported by the school principal, Sue Hendricks. โ
The kids of the region now a great string program with teacher Ms Maple Egerton and new Head of Department, Mr Guy Davis.โ said Christa.
โThe ongoing support from the Council has made this possible with support from the RADF program to โdeliver the Creative Bootcamp in November.โ
โTopology will again be returning to the Goondiwindi region in November 2021 with another Creative Bootcamp. It is expected over 100 people to come from all over the region for the workshops.โ
โIn the meantime, we will be continuing to provide Top Up Education opportunities for small regional schools throughout Queensland with the support of the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.
Christa said โWe would like to invite teachers to contact us if they would like more information about our Top Up Education, music workshops and creative projects as part of our Growing Creative Communities program.โ
