Photos for Under 8’s and Over 80’s day were captured at Goondiwindi State Primary School last Friday, and what a day it was! The annual event, introduced by Early Childhood Australia Queensland Branch, celebrates being under 8 years of age.
This year’s theme was “ You, me and our communities” and the children, businesses, schools, emergency services, volunteers and families did not disappoint with their support and participation. The event could not have been so great without the planning and hard work of the under 8’s committee who put in endless hours to ensure the day ran smoothly.
Children are curious, creative and playful in nature and they soak up the world around them like a sponge. It is essential that we encourage and nurture a young child’s love for learning through a variety of experiences. From everyday activities like learning through play, to investigation and exploration, every moment can be a valuable learning experience.
Parents and carers often underestimate the learning opportunities in their child’s everyday activities. Positive learning experiences at a young age can lead to a lifelong love of learning which sets children up for success in later life.
With the support of the community, the under 8’s day was an outstanding success. A big thank you to everyone.
